Most memorable game ever attended
« on: September 28, 2020, 08:49:09 am »
Helicopter Sunday was a good one and the UEFA cup final in Manchester was a very special occasion.  I attended various cup finals including the Orange day trouncing of the sheep, and various old firm ones.  The Champions League run of 92/93 was great and a very young Hardliner attended all the home games.  I even attended England vs Scotland at Wembley back in the day when I considered myself a bit of a Tartan Army footsoldier!

However, the most memorable and exciting game I ever attended was undoubtedly on 19th January 2002, Aberdeen vs Rangers at Pittodrie.  It was a poisonous atmosphere as Robbie Winters was skelped with a coin on the back of the head when he was about to take a corner.  Coins were traded between the two sets of fans, fans on the park, a Rangers fan slashed, policemen with riot shields..  hard hitting memories that will live with me forever.

And to top it all off, Rangers won 1-0 courtesy of Big Amo with an absolute screamer, meaning that we won both on and off the park  ;)

What's your most memorable game?

Not believing any true Aberdonian would throw money away.
Must’ve been some old tanners.

Hearts 5 Hibs 1 at Hampden, 2012
England 0 Scotland 1 at Wembley, 1999
Hearts 2 Rangers 1 at Parkhead, 1998
Hearts 2 Aberdeen 1 at Hampden, 1996
Rangers 0 Hearts 3 at Ibrox, 1996

Loads of wins against Celtic too. Every single one of them special.

Aberdeen beating rangers 2-0 on last game of the season to qualify for Europe, maybe 2006? Cannae mind, hearts were at rugby park I think and were favourites for the European place, one of the best atmospheres I’ve seen at Pittodrie and an absolute rocket fae Seve to open the scoring.

League cup semi final against St Johnstone at tynecastle in 2014, the best atmosphere I’ve experienced, think we had 13,000 there that day but it felt like way more, it’s definitely my favourite ground in Scotland.

The Copenhagen 4-0 game, we hammered them that night, don’t think anyone saw it coming, Jamie Smith’s two goals were both outstanding finishes.

My most memorable game was Millwall 1 Bradford City 0 at the home of football Wembley in 2017 when we won promtion to the championship. One of the best days of my life.

Dundee 3 ICT 2 at McDiarmid Park 2009 when the Dee came from 2 behind to win the Alba cup. What a day that was.

Dundee 2 Dumbarton 1 2014 when the Dee won promotion. Nothing dodgy happened at Hamilton when they beat Morton 10-2 on the same day. And that Kyle Letheren save, wow
.
Scotland 1 Netherlands 0 (sorted) 👍 Hampden 2003. Superb result and I genuinely thought Scotland could go and get a result in the Netherlands to qualify for the Euros. How wrong I was. Met the future wife that night as well.

Apart from that I am very happy when Millwall and Dundee win. Also get great pleasure when Celtic get beat by any team, anywhere at anytime 🙂

For me it was the 10 in a row busting day in May 1998. What a triumph that was.
