In my childhood, a set of nets would have been a natural gathering point for children of a young age to get to know each other. They were also a great leveller with family backgrounds going completely out the window. Some of my closest friendships were forged through such an environment.
The only thing children would judge each other on was how good they were at football! A great way for kids to grow up IMO. If a boy's dad didn't like football, then the child would get into it from running around with their mates.
I recall we'd be desperate for it to rain because it was a great laugh sliding about trying to play football in the mud. Did that make us weirdos? Maybe so lol.
It's a real shame that there don't appear to be more children doing the same as yours Peter. Is that a local park?
Are you sure the goals have only been there for months? If so, were they salvaged from a skip? Lol
Just the nets are new. Goalposts are ten a penny, but goals with nets! Wow that would have brought all the kids to the yard.
Just a local patch of grass with one set of goals.
I see what you mean. Good point. I can't ever remember there ever being goals with nets growing up!
