He was charged with assault years ago, don't remember the outcome.
Just looked it up. He was cleared by a jury in Liverpool after he battered a DJ for not playing the songs he wanted in a nightclub.
Cleared nevertheless.

Because people can be not guilty in the eyes of the law but guilty of committing the crime.
Not really. Guilty is a legal definition. Salmond and Gerrard are both innocent. You do not become guilty unless that status is conferred on you by a court via a conviction.
Using your measure nobody exonerated by a court can be deemed not guilty is their if an armchair naysayer.
Both were exonerated by juries and the judges in both cases stated that they left court without stain on their character.
Why isn’t that good enough for you? Is Tommy Robinson guilty of contempt of court despite winning an appeal?
Gerrard assaulted the DJ, regardless of the jury's decision. Salmond touched women inappropriately, regardless of the jury's decision.
