My wife and I share a wee Golf TDI.. it's in decent nick but the 5 year HP is now paid up and I'm thinking of getting something else in the new year.
We've got a young baby and may have another 1 or 2 in the next few years so will be looking for something substantially bigger. We usually take the car to Northern Ireland and Arran on the boat at least a couple of times a year each and need plenty space for storage with the wean(s) and associated luggage. We like camping trips too so will be hoping to squeeze in tents, stoves etc at times. Given that I know nothing about cars, does anyone have any particular recommendations for something that will suit our needs? I don't even know where to start lol and am highly wary of salesmen in Arnold Clark and similar places.
Thinking about doing a lease deal rather than HP deals that I've always done. Are they the way forward?
Buc will be able to talk about the Dacia Duster. Some people look down on them because they are Romanian and hence cheap but I don’t think there is a better value car in the world. And it’s SUV size.
I’ve been really happy with my Kia Sportage. 4 wheel drive diesel model. £20k cost me £340 a month and you can throw anything at it. Its been good for us with a dog and 2 kids.
Before retirment I bought a Mercedes CLS cost me £48k had it 3 years 30000 in the clock sold it for £13000 .
I thought to myself at the time fk that that car cost me at a loss of £750 per month . But when in business it didn't matter used to buy a new one every year or 18 months .
But I've ruined that in 4 months time
I'm looking forward to my Dacia Duster to be fair picking it up in Edinburgh hopefully next week .
