Loads of character but by fu#k they cost a fortune to heat and upkeep.
With all the rain we have a leak in the roof that is going into our newly decorated spare bedroom. Absolute nightmare 🙈
Getting my mates brother who is a roofer round to look at it but unfortunately he cant until later this week. More bloody money to fork out 🙁
Ach, that’s a shame.
Every thread. You really are a sad cu#nt
I hear you Mo. I’m not a fan of old houses, they just aren’t designed for modern living.
But I don’t rate any of the main house builders either in terms of what they offer.
The best thing anyone can do if they are not buying to let and building an actual home is to self build. You get more for your money and it’s worth more than it cost you to build it.

Ours was built in the 1800's. It costs an absolute fortune to heat and there is always something needing done.
I would love to self build but my funds do not stretch that far.
Love the view from you new place, looks ace.
The view from ours is amazing as well. It makes the expense worth while.
Now can you that cu#t coyne to fu#k please.
Historic buildings do have a fair bit of upkeep
They look great inside with the high ceilings the old fireplaces just love them but when the roof goes wrong it usually involves scaffolding which adds to the cost .

Got a couple of quotes approx 5 years ago to get the roof replaced. Cheapest was 20k 🙈
You are quite correct about the scaffolding

That's a lot of money think I'd rather move at a reduced price.

Self building is cheaper than buying a comparable house in most cases and self build mortgages are available at 90% LTV.
Back n the 50s 60s and into the mid 70s my gran had 2 rooms at the top of the flat no bathroom no heating and a hot water geezer in both rooms .
You had to go across the landing to go to the other room .
The only heating was a coal fire in both rooms .
There was a shared toilet for all the tenants. When my gran got offered another cooncil flat she didn't want to go even though it had a bathroom and storage heating.
She didn't have much but what she had my gran as content and happy with.
Lost more going for a bus
