The story of Grigori Rasputin fascinates me. This illiterate Russian peasant grew up in an secure part of Siberia, converted to Christianity and positioned himself as a mystical teacher, gathered a cult following, and somehow got in with the Russian Royalty, 'healing' a dying prince. This deed gave him influence and power, but this was to be his downfall, as it led to his assassination by noblemen who wanted rid of him. They tried to kill him a few times by poison, but it didn't seem to affect him, so they eventually shot him, but even then he leapt up to attack the gunman before finally taking his last breath.
All through this he hardly washed, maybe that's why he had such a good immune system to fend off the poisoning attempts.
Anymore for anymore?
