Every country which has ever become independent from the UK has been they couldn’t cope financially. Not one has ever sought a return to Westminster control of their economies.

The IFS is a right wing pressure group with a track record only of complete failure when it comes to making economic predictions.

We would have austerity for a long, long time if we became independent. Voting to make us so much poorer is absolutely ridiculous for a pipe dream imo. It is gettibg so boring now, why cannot people just accept that we voted no and get on with our lifes. Have another vote in 20-30 years time. It is totally ruining livibg here imo. I really hate it 🙁 It makes me very sad 🙁

We wouldn’t have any such austerity. Every country in history has been told, “don’t leave us, you can’t afford it”. I just absolutely do not believe there is any truth in that.

The majority of people want independence and an even bigger majority want another referendum. Democracy allows for electorates to change their minds.

Unionists just think democracy should be parked when it isn’t going their way and they can’t take it when what they think is their right to eternal hegemony comes under threat through legitimate democratic means.

We will never agree on this mate. I think we would have austerity like we haven't seen before in our lifetime. I also firmly believe that we had a once in a lifetime vote and that we should not have another one for 20-30 years. Thats 6 years of our lifes going over the same things and to be honest it is really getting to me and is a horrible, unwanted part of my life. We are very lucky where we live so why can't we just be happy and enjoy our short time that we all have. It is so so tiresome. Sadly neither of us will change our views or opinions on the subject so round and round we go. Its **** 🙁

Because the bounds of democracy are not set by what suits unionists. Or anyone. Democracy moves the wheels of the world. If people want to effect change, they do so, via the ballot box.

We all have to accept that.

No, we had a democratic vote. The nationalists lost, it is them that cannot accept democracy. As I said mate we will never, ever agree. The people of Scotland are split and it is beyond repair. It is absolutely **** and I do blame the Scottish nationalists. They have **** up Scotland and its people 🙁

That’s the very definition of democracy in action.

You should be happy. You got another 10 years of out the Union.

And there is much the unionists could have done in the last 10 years which would mean this was not now a live issue.

They could honoured the promises they made in the run up to the referendum.
They could have not voted for Brexit.
They could have allowed a bespoke Brexit deal for Scotland.
They could have not elected Boris Johnson.
They could have chosen not to treat Scotland’s MPs with complete contempt.
They could have chosen not to chuckle away in the Commons at Scots being shipped off as slaves.
They could have chosen not to have a “hostile environment” for incomers
They could have chosen not to create the Windrush scandal
They could have chosen not to decrease disability benefit
They could have chosen not to create the bedroom tax
They could have chosen not to create the **** clause

The list could go on and on. But unionists, if they are unhappy with the current landscape and outlook, they need to look to themselves and take responsibility. People have had enough. It’s a mess of your own making.

"Once in a generation" we were told by the SNP. You can't just stamp your feet like a spoiled child and demand a referendum every time 53% of 1000 people polled say they want independence. That is NOT democracy.
