Favourite statues

Obviously the Statue of Liberty is my favourite.

What other statues are close to our hearts or capture our imaginations?

I've enjoyed looking up and admiring the Lady of Light and Life statue in Glasgow, above the old co-op building.  It was Originally created by James Alexander Ewing in 1897 but removed in 1996 til 2016 due to ill repair.  I've got a feeling it may have Papish origins (any idea Peter?) but that doesn't put me off this stunning piece of art.

The director says 2016 was a once in a generation chance to restore the statue, so presumably it'll be restored every 3 or 4 years or so.

By far my favourite statue or sculpture is Michaelangelo’s The Pietà in St Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican. It is also the most impressive and majestic building I have ever been in.
