Got a letter fae the dvla today saying they want me to do cardiac tests to get my hgv back but because of covid can’t book anything for the foreseeable future, was taken off furlough and put in ssp halfway through October so cannae last much longer on £95 a week. If I find a wee van job I’ll probably just chuck the hgv altogether.

I don’t fancy courier work if I can help it, they’re all pushing you down the self employed route, if needs must I’ll easy pick something up with one of them though.

Yeah I wouldn’t have thought they would give you a van, pay your fuel/insurance etc and you still get money.
He’s on the taxis and not much happening there just now
That’s not so good mate. Would they maybe give you an office job when you tell them you can’t do HGV at the moment? I’ve seen that happen a few times.

Yeah I wouldn’t have thought they would give you a van, pay your fuel/insurance etc and you still get money.
He’s on the taxis and not much happening there just now
Think they take a certain amount off yer pay for the van and insurance then it’s a flat rate for the day which looks appealing till you consider it’s probably 12-13 hours a day and you’ve tax to pay yersel.

No I offered go back to do anything in the yard or the office when I lost it but was told there was nothing for me to do.

Cheers, plenty of jobs out there, I’ll get something. I passed ma test before 97 so can still drive 7.5t vehicles so there’s always agency work.
I did ma Class One in 97.

I know plumbing wholesalers often had agency workers but it can be heavy work .
My mate drives a bread van all over the north east he starts at 5am and finished by 1pm .
He was on agency work and got a full time job with them at 60 can lead to opportunities.
