You wonder how the SNP could even let such a vulture capitalist stay in the party, never mind stand her as a candidate.

Her line of work just seems so at odds with the party's anti-austerity, equality-promoting and helping the poor (No sniggering at the back) values.
They help the poor by making sure they can stay in council houses forever ahk.By not letting them buy them after years of living in them..
Unlike The Great leaders Parents who pounced on their chance in the 'right to buy' like a seagull on a chip

I don’t think you really understand that issue JTC. The end to right to buy in Scotland was accompanied by schemes to help people buy new build affordable homes which are more suitable for modern living. The end to right to buy was to protect the provision of quality housing stock for the rental sector.

Have never heard anyone in Scotland complain about that particular policy.

OK,I get the drift. But how does that help say a 50year old who maybe could buy his house He has lived in for years for say £60k or less?Surely new builds are loads more than that? You have just said the right to buy was to protect quality housing stock then said the new build schemes are better for modern living. Are they better than council houses then?
I dont see why my Scottish brothers shouldnt be able to buy a council house under the right to buy yet their English brethren can.Its all one country

Newly built councils are better than the older council houses aye, and the best of the older council houses are being protected as rental stock and invested in.

Someone in the situation you describe would be helped to buy a newer council house or in some occasion the older council house might indeed be sold. It was the end of the automatic right to buy, with new schemes replacing it, not a ban on buying council houses.

As well as the support to buy schemes, the SNP Gov has delivered almost 55,000 homes for social rent, including 10,000 actual new council houses. The other 45,000 are via Housing Associations.

The previous administration in Scotland which was in power for 8 years built a grand total of 6 council houses.

Morning, you will of course have factual evidence/links to back up your wild assumptions.

My council has built some recently as well . Not many but they look smart tbh. Plus lots of housing association houses gone up
Tbf I can see the point of not selling these new ones. It would be daft to until they had been paid for rent wise. I can see why even if someone moved in after a given date they wouldn’t be allowed to buy. But for people who have been in before that date then I think it is unfair
Here’s one for you PG. My old house I left a year ago was ex council. I paid full price privately. My next door neighbour was council. A Scotsman. When Jimmy died to me the council should have sold his house as the vast vast majority On the estate are private now. They can have had £140k for that easy.
Then build two on a piece of council land with the money.Do you think this is a good idea?
Instead they let a girl have it who I know as I’m mates with her mum and godfather to her brother. Nothing but trouble and a nightmare for her neighbours.

I see what you are saying but housing policy can’t be decided on anecdote.

I dread to think what Coyne's reaction would be.

Oh goody 😁

I will be back on later this afternoon, I’m affy excited about reading this factual evidence, with specific examples on both counts.

Actually, when I’m in ASDA I’m going to purchase some popcorn for coming back to read here.
