Highland property boom
« on: August 27, 2020, 09:08:36 am »
Estate agents are reporting huge interest in properties in the highlands, mostly from people in England, as they seek to escape Boris Brexit Britain and adjust their lifestyles now they know they can work from home due to COVID.

Paying 10% over asking prices just to get deals done. Great to see these people bringing their wealth and talent to Scotland. They are all clearly aware of the prospect of independence and not fazed by it.

What’s attractive about moving to England in the current climate of Brexit and COVID?

Not moving just now mate. Would not leave Scotland as my elderly parents are still here. I will be honest and say that both my wife and I cannot be done with  independence hanging over our heads. We are both completely done with it. In our opinions since 2014 Scotland has changed for the worse by far. We both want away from it and if the unthinkable happened we will be away like a shot. It is so, so sad. 🙁

The weather for a start.

I know to you ultra political types it sounds paltry but being actually able to plan things in advance and enjoy them is a big thing for us mere minions. Our weather has got worse in summer while England's has got better. I've just lived there for a year so I know what I'm on about in that regard.

I also prefer the atmosphere and people down South. Controversial I know but the wife and I visit multiple times a year and we just prefer it. This has happened since 2014 🙁

Yes. 32 years I've been doon here and it's a **** disaster. I won't bother listing all the 'issues' you'd encounter doon here. But I bet you'll be greetin' to get back hame to Scotland in a flash though.

Please list them for us all to see. I've lived in England for 6 years; it's the same as any part of Scotland but bigger, that's all.
