Favourite Simpsons character

Pete's mentioning of 'Monorail' got me thinking about the wide range of superb Simpsons characters there have been over the years.

I have three favourites which are Cletus, Sideshow Bob and Apu.

Cletus (the slack jawed yokel) is a stereotype redneck from the South and doesn't appear very often, but when he does it's usually to imply he is inbred or have him doing something minging.

Sideshow Bob is a narcissistic psychopath who I believe tries to kill Bart a lot.  Kelsey Grammar does the voice.

Apu is the guy who runs the newsagents.  His catchphrase is 'Thankyou come again'  I think there was a campaign to get rid of him due to the 'racial stereotype  ::)' but Groening told the campaign to take a long walk off a short pier, deciding to keep the character.  Funny how there was never any campaign against Cletus.  There's even a documentary about 'the problem' with Apu - I kid you not.

Who is your favourite Simpsons character and why?  Aberdeen fans; Neil Simpson does not count.

I have never got into the Simpsons at all even although I have had to sit through it many times
To briefly change the subject I have started to watch reruns of Cheers for the 1st time. On series 2 just now and it is tremendous.
