Best ignored I think.
Looking that way .

Is this true, that there's been a Highland property boom?
I think a lot of retired English people with a bit of cash enjoy the peace and tranquility of Highland Scotland and the Islands in their retirement. I doubt very much that these people are fleeing to another part of the country to escape Boris, Brexit and COVID. They probably also see fantastic opportunities to buy up holiday lets.
My gut feeling tells me that separation is far from being inevitable, although I could be wrong. Corbyn being elected as Labour leader, the rise of Trump, woke culture having such an influence, BLM, the COVID pandemic and the ever changing dynamic such events create makes me believe that you just can't predict politics.
Nippy is enjoying high approval ratings just now due to her COVID briefings and this is leading to an increase in support for separation, but there's nothing to suggest that this will last forever.
Could the SNP tear itself apart internally? It's funny watching the feminist 'TERFs' and wokerati attack each other with vicious namecalling that they usually reserve for right wingers. We also have the battle between the Sturgeon and Salmond camps over the attempts to have him jailed. What will his evidence expose? Can't wait for his book!
Could other countries leave the EU? It's going to be very hard to keep it together in the next decade or so. People do not like the free movement of people, and rightly so.
Could Scotland even get back in the EU with it's debt? Would Scots want to adopt the Euro? Would it be allowed back in without adopting the Euro? What about the border and single market of the UK? There are so many variables and questions which aren't really being considered at the moment. Many Scots are just displaying their displeasure with their emotions being the driver IMO.
The economy is about to take a real tanking once the real job losses become clear. Would separation improve this?
As for England, I don't think I could ever move there unless it was to a quiet village. It just seems so unbelievably busy, especially the roads, and there isn't much of a sense of community in many parts, this will partly be caused by it becoming atomised by multiculturalism IMO, which we are all told is our strength.

Calling people who favour independence racist and anti English is a very lazy observation.
Anyway, we don't want this board becoming like the other one where the whole feeling of it is one group against the other where it crosses over into many different subjects and becomes pointless talking about anything else apart from politics.
You might think it’s lazy but the majority of independence supporters are anti English, or racists in other words.
You might not like it, but the SNP the facts.
Nae bother mate. 🙄
Pretty sure it’s just daft Ralph.
Wrong again.
Have another go.
Not too fussed either way. I actually believe you though. You seem almost too angry and in pain to be Ralph.
Pain and anger free.
You separatists don’t like facts.
It’s you who have pain and anger issues😬
No you!

I think only swivel-eyed moonhowlers equate support for independence with anti-English racism. Not a point worth really taking seriously.
Mark Blyth has come out for independence today. He’s a leading political scientist and a professor of international political economy at Brown University. Hard to paint him as an anti-English racist. I wonder if GB tennis gold medalist and knight of the realm Sir Andy Murray bases his support for independence on racist hatred of English people.
FFS the tinfoil hat wearing separatists hate Sir Andy because he’s a Knight Of The Realm and he carried the Union Jack at the Olympic opener game ceremony😂😂😂
I adore Andy Murray and have never heard a word of criticism of him from any yes supporter.
Your ears must be painted on then.
Ps, adoring a grown man not connected to your family group is creepy.

I agree.
The Dab needs to wind his neck in
You guys seem a bit triggered by facts about an independent Scotland.
No need to get upset by the truth.

See no one refuting the bit about racists.
Telling.
4-0
He does seem a little testy! 😆
I’m sure he will be ok in a few hours, that result was to be expected.
Killie had’t won in 6 months, you knew it was coming.
I thought he was a Rangers fan didn't know he was a united fan .

And the wife and I will be moving the other way. 🙂
You’ll pay less tax and be free from the racists up here masquerading as Independence supporters.
The racist part is untrue for the most part sadly there's racists in every walk of life and organisations.
The independence marches which I go to are well organized and my English wife is welcomed we also have an English for YES added to that we have many supporters from around Europe not forgetting in the SnP party I've no time for racism .

Overall tax is higher in England due to Council Tax, higher prices and associated higher VAT cost.
Good attempt though.
I pay more in income tax than my colleague living in England.
I don’t earn a fortune.
Good attempt at deflection though.
It’s noted you ignored the racist element.
Pretty sure people on lower wages got less tax and most paid a we bit more but people with higher incomes got hit the most something the Tories won't do ..

Doesn’t matter if you pay more in income tax. You pay less in other taxes. The overall tax burden on individuals is higher in England than it is in Scotland. The cost of living is also higher while the standard of living is poorer.
These are the facts of the case, and these facts are undisputed.

It's Aberdonian's that are tight and miserable.

Sense of humour is definitely different the further south you go. Generally the Geordies, Scousers and Mancs are a good laugh.
I'm nae being funny but how did Scots get the reputation of being tight?
They're tighter than 2 coats of paint doon there.
Ive been in company of Scots that are tiggt. One of my good mates is tight as ****. Ive also got an English pal that is slso tight as ****. Good and bad in both. Bit harsh the Scots are tarred with that brush though.
As for sense of humour I have many cockney friends that are funny as ****
Sue's brother down in Stevenage is a great laugh funny as heck when he does his Scottish accent.
But her brother is tight over the top right .
I get the Jocks are tight stuff but put that to bed as I'm extremely generous but I enjoy being that way .

We
Scotland is so different to England for one it's a bit overpopulated it's not got the same scenery apart from the Lakes but that's accessable to millions of people on a good day they head up into their thousands.
The water also tastes better up here now that a big yes from me .
I also think their sence of humour is different.
But the villages in outer London are stunning much better than we have here .
Also Scotland politically is different we are more left wing .
I also like the idea of being European.

Claude's had a bit of a nightmare on this thread. 😂

And me the other. You really don't have a **** clue what you're letting yourself in for, do you?
;) ;D
Yes we do. Do you ?
Yes. 32 years I've been doon here and it's a **** disaster. I won't bother listing all the 'issues' you'd encounter doon here. But I bet you'll be greetin' to get back hame to Scotland in a flash though.
;)
Please list them for us all to see. I've lived in England for 6 years; it's the same as any part of Scotland but bigger, that's all.
You live on a **** Army base and are pampered rotten/never had to fend for yourself.
Talk to me When you've lived the Civvy life doon here.
;D
I've been oot the Army for 6 years ya **** maniac and have just spent a year living and working in England. Hurry up and move back you chippy Jock ****, you're an embarrassment 👍🏴🇬🇧😂

The weather for a start.
I know to you ultra political types it sounds paltry but being actually able to plan things in advance and enjoy them is a big thing for us mere minions. Our weather has got worse in summer while England's has got better. I've just lived there for a year so I know what I'm on about in that regard.
The weather. Fair point.

I also prefer the atmosphere and people down South. Controversial I know but the wife and I visit multiple times a year and we just prefer it. This has happened since 2014 🙁

What’s attractive about moving to England in the current climate of Brexit and COVID?
Not moving just now mate. Would not leave Scotland as my elderly parents are still here. I will be honest and say that both my wife and I cannot be done with independence hanging over our heads. We are both completely done with it. In our opinions since 2014 Scotland has changed for the worse by far. We both want away from it and if the unthinkable happened we will be away like a shot. It is so, so sad. 🙁

Estate agents are reporting huge interest in properties in the highlands, mostly from people in England, as they seek to escape Boris Brexit Britain and adjust their lifestyles now they know they can work from home due to COVID.
Paying 10% over asking prices just to get deals done. Great to see these people bringing their wealth and talent to Scotland. They are all clearly aware of the prospect of independence and not fazed by it.
