And meanwhile Sturgeon keeps getting the begging bowl out to WM. We would have been truely **** if we had been independent, crisis or no crisis, imo of course.
Every country which has ever become independent from the UK has been they couldn’t cope financially. Not one has ever sought a return to Westminster control of their economies.
We would have austerity for a long, long time if we became independent. Voting to make us so much poorer is absolutely ridiculous for a pipe dream imo. It is gettibg so boring now, why cannot people just accept that we voted no and get on with our lifes. Have another vote in 20-30 years time. It is totally ruining livibg here imo. I really hate it 🙁 It makes me very sad 🙁
Come doon to England then - the land of Milk and Honey.... ;D
At some point the wife and I will. Plan to get a campervan and follow Millwall for a season. We both love England 🙂
Aye, cos there's no way you'll be able to afford a hoose in London .... :D :D :D
Claude's the only bloke to ever buy a house in the London area. 😂
I've owned houses IN London. Probably the only one on here who has... ;)
Why don't you buy a house in London (or even Ayrshire)?
I have.👍

You honestly can’t understand that a lot of people don’t like the kinds of things listed above?
People look at that pile of crap and compare it to the living standards in other similar sized independent countries. People have ambition and aspiration. They want a better life for themselves and their children. It’s human nature, at a very base level.
That unionists can’t understand that, and expect people to just be thankful for what they have, is their undoing.
I could post you a pile of crap brought upon us by the snp. We have a very good standard of living that I'm pretty sure would be a lot worse if independence happened and the austerity thst would come with it.. You can have as much ambition and aspiration you want just now.
I can't understand why people would put our childrens future at risk for a pipe dream. I find it incredible. If the nationalists had accepted they lost a once in a generation vote and got on with things Scotland would be a much happier place imo. My personal experiences are I've fallen out with a good friend, my brother in law, a workmate, the season ticket holders at Dens that I sat beside for years, guys I went to Scotland matches with for years etc... It is horrible. I despise the snp and the thought of independence gives me the fear. Ths country would be unbearable to live in if the unthinkable happened. It is bad enough just now at times. As I said mate we will never ever agree or see eye to eye on this subject. That is what the nationalists have done to our country 🙁
If you have fallen out with that many people.
I would suggest that you are perhaps the issue
Not at all. My ex mate fell out with all of our group, my brother in law is a twat, even his sister and brother thinks so. I didnt fall out with the guys I went to the Scotland games with I just stopped going as I did not like 45 yes on the back of sone of their tops. The worst was my fellow Dees. I got abuse from all sides of where I had sat for years as I told them I voted no. It was disgusting. I do not have a problem with anyone but sadly in my experience most of the independence supporters I have met are pretty abusive and nasty. There is good and bad in all walks of life so maybe Ive been unlucky 🤷♂️🙂

Not in Scotland yet. Just sold my hoose in England and will be back in Scotland in next few months, all being well. ;)
Where in England are you and where you moving to ? We could have done a house swap 👍😂

I’m quite happy to disagree. It is rarely independence supporters who get upset about it in my experience.
A better standard of living through control of our own economy and government which puts Scotland’s interests first isn’t a pipe dream. You can ignore New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, Norway and Switzerland but the majority of people here want something better for their children and aren’t happy with Westminster’s dealings in Scotland.
It’s just normal for countries to be independent sovereign states.
I used to get upset and angry mate, not now (Deemo has gone) I just find it incredibly sad and very frustrating 🙁
Something better? I don't think so, I think it will be a hellava lot worse. We spend 15 billion more than we take in taxes. That is a lot of money. No way things would be better imo. Anyway, round and round we go 🙂

And there is much the unionists could have done in the last 10 years which would mean this was not now a live issue.
They could honoured the promises they made in the run up to the referendum.
They could have not voted for Brexit.
They could have allowed a bespoke Brexit deal for Scotland.
They could have not elected Boris Johnson.
They could have chosen not to treat Scotland’s MPs with complete contempt.
They could have chosen not to chuckle away in the Commons at Scots being shipped off as slaves.
They could have chosen not to have a “hostile environment” for incomers
They could have chosen not to create the Windrush scandal
They could have chosen not to decrease disability benefit
They could have chosen not to create the bedroom tax
They could have chosen not to create the **** clause
The list could go on and on. But unionists, if they are unhappy with the current landscape and outlook, they need to look to themselves and take responsibility. People have had enough. It’s a mess of your own making.
People should be very careful what they wish for. We are very lucky to have what we do. I do not get people have had enough. Enough of what ? What do people actually want. And the only mess I see has been caused by the snp snd the scottish nationalists who love their grievances 🤷♂️

We wouldn’t have any such austerity. Every country in history has been told, “don’t leave us, you can’t afford it”. I just absolutely do not believe there is any truth in that.
The majority of people want independence and an even bigger majority want another referendum. Democracy allows for electorates to change their minds.
Unionists just think democracy should be parked when it isn’t going their way and they can’t take it when what they think is their right to eternal hegemony comes under threat through legitimate democratic means.
We will never agree on this mate. I think we would have austerity like we haven't seen before in our lifetime. I also firmly believe that we had a once in a lifetime vote and that we should not have another one for 20-30 years. Thats 6 years of our lifes going over the same things and to be honest it is really getting to me and is a horrible, unwanted part of my life. We are very lucky where we live so why can't we just be happy and enjoy our short time that we all have. It is so so tiresome. Sadly neither of us will change our views or opinions on the subject so round and round we go. Its **** 🙁
Because the bounds of democracy are not set by what suits unionists. Or anyone. Democracy moves the wheels of the world. If people want to effect change, they do so, via the ballot box.
We all have to accept that.
No, we had a democratic vote. The nationalists lost, it is them that cannot accept democracy. As I said mate we will never, ever agree. The people of Scotland are split and it is beyond repair. It is absolutely **** and I do blame the Scottish nationalists. They have **** up Scotland and its people 🙁
We did lose. But now the people of Scotland want another referendum and polls indicate a different outcome.
That’s the very definition of democracy in action.
You should be happy. You got another 10 years of out the Union.
"Once in a generation" we were told by the SNP. You can't just stamp your feet like a spoiled child and demand a referendum every time 53% of 1000 people polled say they want independence. That is NOT democracy.

It is gettibg so boring now, why cannot people just accept that we voted no and get on with our lifes. Have another vote in 20-30 years time. It is totally ruining livibg here imo. I really hate it 🙁 It makes me very sad 🙁
Its **** 🙁
-
And meanwhile Sturgeon keeps getting the begging bowl out to WM. We would have been truely **** if we had been independent, crisis or no crisis, imo of course.

The IFS is a right wing pressure group with a track record only of complete failure when it comes to making economic predictions.

Gers. ;D ;D ;D
Over 72 pages, the word "Estimate" is used 166 times.
That's all you need to know about GERS.
Prepared and endorsed by the Scottish government.

Do you always agree with Scottish Government figures?

Every country that has ever become independent from the UK has been told it doesn’t have what it takes. Not one has ever sought return to Westminster rule. Scotland is a medium sized modern nation, with many advantages other countries do not have. A country like Scotland is very well placed to be independent. And it will be.
As a tribal unionist, will you be hoping for an independent Scotland to fail?
What advantages do we have that other countries don’t?
What is a ‘tribal unionist’?
You will have to answer my most recent question to me, before I continue the courtesy of answering your questions.
I hope you do, but something tells me you won’t.
You’ve made assertions with nothing to back them up.
Indicative of a cultist.
I’ve merely pointed out figures accepted by the Scottish government.
I hope you will answer, but something tells me you can’t.
I will respond to your critique in full the moment you answer my question above.
You seem triggered.

I base it on normality and the view that medium sized countries sized countries with first world infrastructure who govern themselves provide better outcomes for the people living in that country.
Even if it makes us poorer?
I think it’s unlikely to make us poorer, but staying in the Boris’ Brexit Britain will certainly make us poorer.
Show me figures that make it ‘unlikely’.
I won’t.
Code for I can’t’.
That’s correct. I can’t give you something that doesn’t yet exist. I note that I have engaged with every point of yours, while you have fastidiously avoid every point put to you by me.
Timidity indicative of a lack of confidence on your part.
:D :D :D :D
You’re the one refusing to believe figures produced by the Scottish government that they hung an independence hat on..they then commissioned a growth report which used the same government data. Go on the SG website and they’ll tell you the figures are the ONLY thing they can base an economic case on.
You’ve that much confidence you can’t provide anything other than ‘ I don’t believe them’.
Indicative of a cultist.

Unbelievable folk still fall for the unionist GERS figures designed to keep Scotland in the union and for the MSM to splash that figures all over their front pages .
As Pete says they don't represent how an independent Scotland would be .
Who's 2 trillion in dept? Aye Westminster.
“This means the statistics have been found to meet user needs, to be methodologically sound, explained well and produced free of political interference. Official statistics are produced in accordance with professional standards – more information on the standards of official statistics in Scotland can be accessed at: https://www.gov.scot/statistics/ “
Straight from Scottish government website.
So now you are willing to put complete faith in the words of the Scottish Government. Is that always the case? Or often?
Well they're not going to falsify figures to make themselves look bad, are they?
They aren’t entirely Scottish Government figures though. They are developed in Whitehall by UK civil servants.
And if the figures are bad it means they are bad under the status quo. The report itself, which you seem very keen to accept in its entirety, states that it does not represent the financial position of an independent Scotland.
They were the basis of the independence white paper and the SNP growth commission report.
No wonder the MP’s and MSP’s are jumping ship from the SNP.
They know the games up.

What would the deficit be in an independent Scotland?
Nobody knows.
Unlikely to be as high as the supposed 8% as per GERS or the current UK deficit of 16%.
So, what do you base wanting independence on?

Statistics don’t.
Statistics do lie. Even a child can understand that concept. It’s where the term “lies, damned lies and statistics” came from.

Bad GERS figures are a perfect argument in favour of independence. The GERS report states clearly that it’s figures are not representative of an independent Scotland. So when they are bad under the status quo then it is a great argument for stating the status quo.
GERS as it stands has been rigged since Whitehall got a fright in 2014, so I don’t accept or believe the figures anyway.
Are you for real? These are Scottish government figures. Are they lying?
Ah, do you always unconditionally accept Scottish Government figures, or do you only do so when convenient?
The figures are created using Whitehall methodology. I reject them.

And anyway:
“ This public spending deficit was £2bn higher than the previous year, and represented 8.6% of the country's GDP.”
Isn’t the independent UK running a 16% deficit?
