Part of our history that should definitely stay. Far too many people want to wipe it out which is sad. It was the way things were back in the days and I bet every country has done things that are unacceptable now but that does not mean that it should be wiped out.
I guess the issue is those things being sung about triumphantly and in a celebratory situation like the end of the proms.
As I say each to their own though

They are shite songs but pointless banning them.

I would agree with the sentiments expressed here. These songs really are a bit pathetic IMO but people seem to enjoy them.
I have always, even as a child, found Rule Brittania a bit odd.
“Britons never never never shall be slaves!”
Yeah, that’s for foreigners.

Singing Rule Britannia in this day and age is a bit sad in my opinion. It's not really relevant at all.
Each to their own though.

Gone mad alright .
For me it's no big deal and people enjoy it there's no reason to ban it..
Playing a tune and a singalong whilst people wave flags with passion nothing wrong with that ..

The world has gone mad.

At the Proms.
To say the righties are upset is a bit of an understatement.
