Sturgeon is doing everything she can to avoid holding a referendum so she is keeping to her word, although I don’t recall her word every being couched in the terms of “a promise”.
Vows don’t need to be kept, so promises don’t anyway, especially when things change and vows corresponding to promises are broken.
The SNP have no right to decide how often referendums can be held anyway. That is a matter for the people and the Parliament.
There will be another referendum, relatively soon. Yoons should get themselves used to it rather than this constant dodging. 😎

I didn’t engage with the SNP until 2006. At that point they convinced me they were a realistic vehicle for independence and a viable Scottish Government.
I was pretty happy with the SNP up until 2016 and gradually became disaffected through to the present day, both by policy and by the internal machinations I was witnessing. I cancelled my membership in 2018.
They have my vote still as there is no alternative. I will return to the party possibly in 2021, if the leadership changes and policies are drastically improved.

There are several problems with that assessment.
1. “Once in a generation” was not binding in law.
2. Past governments cannot bind future governments. This is a matter of law.
3. It is the people of Scotland who favour a new referendum. And independence.
4.
I believe Sturgeon made the promise repeatedly. In my own personal life, I try to keep my promises whether they are made into law or not, but maybe Sturgeon just has a different moral code from me. It didn't seem to be a manifesto governmental promise either, it was a promise to the Scottish people. Allowing opinion polls to sway one's decision to try and break a promise or not is also deeply immoral, especially when she started trying to break it before opinion polls showed such results.
Sturgeon falls firmly into the red section of the below image IMO. That's where promise breakers go.

Yes. I’m pro-independence. Always have been.
I didn’t engage with the SNP until 2006. At that point they convinced me they were a realistic vehicle for independence and a viable Scottish Government.
I was pretty happy with the SNP up until 2016 and gradually became disaffected through to the present day, both by policy and by the internal machinations I was witnessing. I cancelled my membership in 2018.
They have my vote still as there is no alternative. I will return to the party possibly in 2021, if the leadership changes and policies are drastically improved.

Erm... not really mate.I understand if You want indy but dont like the current SNP set up .Thats perfectly understandable .I get why (if you believe in indy)you would vote for them but not like the leadership etc.she really has a cult of personality going on in my view.
Your views are similar to many miners(in my area) who ,whilst loving the NUM didnt rate Scargills no ballot approach .In fact whilst staying in the NUM and not joining the UDM they made it clear that any more stunts like that and there would be trouble.
Sometimes leaders can forget why they are leaders.That being they were voted in as leaders.They forget the people hold the power not them

With the huge growth there should have been development and restructuring. Murrell seems to have done the square root of **** all!
But hey, lets trust them with an iScotland where, if we had any money, they couldn’t tell us which currency it would be in.
It’s more a case of trusting the people of Scotland with their own money. Seems to works well for other medium sized countries.
