About 15 years ago I played in a game for a Celtic messageboard against a pub team. Probably played about 5 games for them overall.
On my debut after being selected at training I was right midfield, in the Beckham role, my favourite position. My left back opponent was one Peter Martin, commentator extraordinaire.
He was considerably better than me but I got the better of him on the day with the support of a good right back. 2 assists in a 3-2 victory, one was a corner.
I played against Steven Naismith several times when I was a wee boy!

There was an ex Czech u/21 international that played in the Aberdeen Sunday Amateur league aboot 15 year ago.
Diving bastard. :D
Whenever I think of diving I always think of that little **** Mikolunias.
Mikolunis’ dive was far more blatant and telling. If anything I don’t think he got it tight enough.
Aye did he nae dive for Lithuania against Scotland?
Steven Presley was a diving **** and Chris Sutton.
I always laugh at this. Garry O'Connor dived in the same game but for some reason it barely got a mention and Miko got crucified. Strange.

Also years later when I was washed up and old (in my 20's) ;D
I used to play at the Pitz at Portobello, there was a German guy who played against us for another team, his first name was Jurgen.
He played in the Bundesliga and Bundesliga.2
Im not 100%, but im sure he played for Colonge and Dusseldorf at one point, he told us one time and we didn't believe him, a week later he turned up with a scrapbook to show us all the press cutting his dad had kept.
Also, he was a dirty hacking barsteward.

Ive a few.
The manager of my boys club, was a scout for St Johnstone in Edinburgh, so we always ended up on pre-season tours up there.
I trained on an off with St Johnstone as a kid for 3-4 years.
We went up and stayed in this sort of camp place for a week outside of Perth, Im not sure what it was called. It had dorms and there was loads of sports, fishing etc and it was surrounded by forest.
Anyway, we got told we were playing a "friendly" on the Saturday, climbed on the coach and it pulled up outside McDiarmid Park, took us into the changing rooms, got changed, and standing in the tunnel.
We got to play a mixure of St Johnstone first team/youth players on the pitch. I think I must have been 13???? We got beat 11-2, and my claim to fame is I scored a free-kick into Alan Main. He probably let it in though.
Over the years I played against Michael Stewart, Kenny Miller and Colin Nish.
Think Scott Severin as well with maybe Musselburgh.
Ive a feeling Hutchie Vale's forward line at that age was Nish and Miller...

Played in the same boys club as Stuart Duff, he was some player at juvenile level. A couple of others in my team did sign professional but didn't quite make it. Paul Jarvie went to to the Dabs as a keeper, played a few 1st team games but ended up getting binned by Ian McCall. Played doon in England lower league but ended up at Peterhead for a couple of years.
Also a lad called Martin Wood, signed for Rothes in the Highland League at 16, had a great season and Motherwell bought him a year later. Played under I think it was Billy Davies, then Eric Black.
Again he played a few 1st team games but was released when Motherwell went into administration.
Some of the best players I player with and against never made it because they didnt have the discipline. By 15/16 they're starting drinking and missing games etc.

When I was about 10 Duncan Shearer was at the school signing autographs and we ended up having a kick about. I went in goals and he blasted the ball off my face
Let’s be honest, he couldn’t miss.
Beat it dunderheid >:(

Feck that must have hurt.
In 1988 I was the Celtic mascot at a European cup game. During the warm up I scored a penalty into Alan Rough. Pretty sure he let it in. We beat Honved 4-0 on the night and there was about 45000 inside the old Celtic Park.
I will never forget the noise in the tunnel as I walked out with Roy Aitken.

Probably Kevin Mcnaughton and Mark Fotheringham
Played Futsal against Gavin Price who played for St Johnstone and in the Netherlands
Price is manager at Elgin eh?
Kev played in my wee brothers boys team, you could see then he was excellent, made a really good career for himself, doesn’t need to work now
Yeah mate just checked there. Played for Den Haag

I played against a Preston North End side managed by Sammy McIlroy (I think) when they did a pre season at my unit. It was in 1990, must've been some decent players, they humped us 6-0 and I got booked for pushing a centre half out the way as I was way too keen going for a header ;D

Off the top of my heed .
For me Bobby Clark but I did get handed a winners trophy from a hill race from Theo Snelders both were very nice lads.
Saw Theo a few years ago at the beach coffee shop sitting out having a coffee I was sitting next to him and he asked me to take a photo of him and his 6ft plus daughter .
He didn't remember handing me that trophy.

Ian Maxwell had a decent career.
I was surprised he got his current job, as he hadn’t been MD at Partick for that long.
-
That is awesome. I almost know what you mean about how incredible these guys are when you are on the pitch with them.
When I was 17 I played for my work’s team alongside Ian Maxwell, the now SFA chief executive. He was just getting a regular start at Queens Park at the time and compared the rest of us he was like Beckenbauer and Baresi rolled into one.

Barry Ferguson.
My boys team won the league ever year, won the Scottish Cup at under 14s in Renfrew.
So we always got asked to play against senior clubs youth teams, we played St Johnstone youth team and Ferguson was playing and was absolutely outstanding, nobody could get near him. Danny Griffin was also playing that night and he was nearly as good.
