There is only one contender for roaster of the year.
The odds for it to win must be 1000/1 on

Utter rubbish Mo .

Surely you know this isn't the case I've been in the movement long enough to know that's a bit silly of you to say that.

That’s a great post JTC. I have a respect and affection for everyone who posts here, even the ones I argue with the most.

The world is a rich old tapestry and we all bring own unique threads to life’s great loom.

its ironic that since Maggie was in power,a women who claimed to be a ubber Brit her policies of de industrialisation have hastened independent nationalism in the UK rather than cemented the Union. When we had a coal industry for example a bloke in Cumnock would have more in common with a man in the Staffordshire coalfields then He would with a Perthshire farmer.
Also devolution hasnt helped imo.Iv got to admit I (coming from a Labour background at the time)I thought it would be fine.Giving the four segments if you like, of the UK the chance of being the samebut slightly different.Of course the people of NE England were offered a devolution of regional sorts but rejected it.And quite right too as the assets like the mines had long closed. No point in having power over nothing is there?
ultimately time will tell about the Union.Like iv said I dont think its anyones right to stop people having a say. What i do believe is the vote we had was once in a generation so no new one is needed. Also I see no 'better' way been put forward by the SNP.If it put a 'better' way forward than the one we have already I might see the point of indy more. Also ,sadly I dont feel it is run on the lines (by the leadership and more rabid supporters)of  whats best for Scotland .Its more to do with hatred of the English /British.I see a rabid Irish Republicism tied into this too.I really think the SNP need  to divorce away from it
A new vote is needed if the people decide a new vote is needed. Devolution had to be delivered for Scotland. Blair had to accede to it due to EU and International Law, especially given NI had already been handed devolution multiple times and there are devolved parliaments all across Europe.

There is no rabid Irish republicanism in the independence movement. For a long time that dwindling element of society was remarkably pro-union when it came to Scotland. Most of that ilk still are. They are thick as mince in the main and believe the SNP to be consumed with a desire to abolish Catholic schools.

Scotland running it’s own economy and foreign affairs is infinitely better than having these things run by Westminster, especially a Tory, right wing, hard Brexit isolationist and incompetent Westminster. Most people in Scotland believe that fundamentally.

The UK is going to break up. If it can happen to the Soviet Union, it can happen more easily to the UK. And it will. These islands will be a better place for it.
Cant agree about Irish Republicanism not being rampant in the SNP mate .Id suggest that band coming over and playing at a indy march sort of proves the point.Fancy have a band linked with the new RA playing at a Scottish indy march!
Some of the people attaching theirselves to the iScotland debate have nothing to offer Scotland but rabid anti English/Britishness.It would be better if some of the people in the movement for indy actually realised most English people dont wear bowler hats all day long and campaign for the Tories.
Of course if the USSR can break up then so can the Union. That is factual.I doubt it will happen though and of course then there will be pockets of Scotland, particularly Islands and the borders who may wish to remain in the Union.Im fully expecting Nicola to let a ballot be set up in these areas as She champions the vote so much.
Regarding Brexit we will have to wait and see.Crystal ball gazing aint the answer .We will get a idea after January.Im confident it will work. The proof of the pudding will be in the eating. The end of Feb aint going to give us the definitive answer. It will take a lot longer than that.

I think Brexit will work too JTC.  I can also see the EU fragmenting with other countries eventually leaving, although admittedly this will take quite some time.

Once new trade deals are set up and the dynamic has changed then I think people will stop seeing it as some sort of holy grail.

I think there's a good chance it could help wage equality too, forcing employers to pay indigenous Brits a half decent wage to do all the jobs they used to give to the Europeans.  The fact we can't control who comes in and out seems like madness to me.  We should be helping our own people with a system that they can work for a decent wage and be able to buy a home and have decent sized families.  Europeans who may live several to a flat are able to work for less and push down wages for the native population.

We'll see what happens I suppose.

I think the EU will self combust mate. The only way for it to continue is by having other countries join then take work out of countries who are already there .The first wave of this i believe happened when Hoover shut in Dundee(?) in the 90,s and relocated to France.Basically a new country joins, loves it because they get handouts and work moved over to them then rinse and repeat. The counties having the work took from them by cheaper wages countries moan but the reality is they have done the whole process themselves.
The Germans are going to get sick of paying for it.France may like the political intergration side of it but they wont when they cant ditch the immigrants over the channel.
In the end it will become what it was suppossed to be.A Trading zone.Or countries of the same mindset generally like the UK,Germany,The low countries will forge a agreement
